Teso College Aloet Ecumenical Prayer Day 26th September, 2026

Teso College Aloet Ecumenical Prayer Day 26th September, 2026

The 26th of September 2026 was a significant day in the history and tradition of Teso College Aloet as the school held its annual Ecumenical Prayer Day.

The Ecumenical Prayer Day is a long-standing tradition of the school and is normally held towards the period when candidates are preparing to sit their UNEB national examinations. The occasion therefore has a special significance for the Senior Four (S.4) and Senior Six (S.6) candidates, who are approaching an important stage in their academic journey.

The day is not only about prayers and the blessing of candidates. It is also an important occasion for guidance, counselling, mentorship and career development. As Teso College Aloet is traditionally a boys’ school, the occasion provides an opportunity for old boys of the school and other elders to return to their former school and interact with the current generation of students.

The old boys and invited elders share their experiences, provide career guidance and counsel the candidates on matters concerning education, personal discipline, leadership, character and life after school. Their interaction with the students demonstrates the continuing bond between the school and its former students and allows the younger generation to benefit from the experiences of those who went before them.

The career talks are particularly valuable to the S.4 and S.6 candidates as they make important decisions about their next stages of education and future careers. The elders and old boys encourage them to take their studies seriously, make responsible choices and develop the values and discipline necessary for success beyond the school environment.

The day therefore combines faith, education, mentorship, career guidance and the preservation of the school’s heritage. It brings together the school administration, teachers, students, parents, religious leaders, old boys and other members of the wider Teso College Aloet community in support of the candidates.

The Ecumenical Prayer Day remains one of the important traditions that strengthens the sense of belonging and continuity at Teso College Aloet, while giving the candidates spiritual encouragement and practical guidance as they prepare for their national examinations.
